If you have existing contacts that you want to auto-enroll as ambassadors in your referral program, you can easily add them to your Ambassador account.
If you need a refresher on the types of contacts (ex. prospects vs. ambassadors), check out our support article: Contacts Overview
How do I import my contacts?
Account admins can manually add contacts either individually or multiple simultaneously via a CSV file. To upload ambassadors in bulk, follow the steps below.
Step 1: In the navigation menu on the left, click "Contacts."
Step 2: Next, click the “Import Contacts” button in the top right corner.
Step 3: A pop-up will appear that includes a sample file that you can download and use as a template for importing your contacts. There is also an "Instructions" button that includes a list of available fields that you can use to map your import information to Ambassador.
At minimum, the contact's email address is required. We recommend adding as many details (such as the contact name and status) as you can in this import. Please note, if you are importing ambassadors for a private campaign, you’ll need to add a group column in your CSV file and include the group ID. To find the group ID, go to the Segments section here. Once your ambassadors have been imported, adding them to a group for a private campaign is a manual process.
Step 4: Once you’ve reviewed the instructions and are ready to upload, click “Browse” to select the CSV file you want to use and then select “Upload File.”
Step 5: A new pop-up will then appear where you will be required to map fields from your file to fields inside of Ambassador. You'll also be prompted to send the New Ambassador welcome email now or send nothing. Please note, we strongly recommend selecting "Send welcome email" at the time of importing. Sending the welcome email after the import has been completed is a manual process.
Step 5: After you’ve mapped all fields, click “Finish Upload.” That’s it! We’ll let you know when your upload is complete.
